Georgetown's Davis Performing Arts Center

A Season of Change

Georgetown's award-winning Davis Performing Arts Center challenged us to develop a creative campaign worthy of its 10th Anniversary Season. The theme of "Making New Worlds" celebrated the power of storytelling and set the stage for the theater's exciting decade to come. Provocative and empowering photography of cast and crew members was used to create a partly illustrated, partly photographic series showing characters breaking through graphic boundaries – a metaphor for the fourth wall between the actors and the audience.

A Theme of "Breaking Through"

The vertical rectangle shape anchoring all of the executions was integrated with a bold and artful typographic treatment in the large banners hung outside the theater for the run of the season. The campaign concept was also carried across a number of creative formats and executions, from illustrated programs to marquees, season calendars and souvenirs.
