Alliance for Youth Action & Organizing

Annual Reports

The Alliance for Youth Action grows progressive people power across America by empowering local young people’s organizations to strengthen our democracy through on-the-ground organizing. Humankind Studio was proud to partner with them for three consecutive years on their annual report. We evolved the presentation of the 2020 version into a microsite that would reach their young audience where they are, and could be used as a template. The focus and style of each execution varied depending on the challenges the organization overcame the previous year. What remained consistent was an interests in bold design elements to match the unflinching efforts of this incredible organization.

2020: Joy, Resiliency, Innovation

A microsite was developed for the 2020 report expanding our storytelling capabilities. The microsite enabled us to dig deep and share detailed filterable maps, link to relevant press mentions and more. This migration of platform allowed the user to interact with the report like never before.

The hero element for the microsite was a custom video version of the president’s letter – an innovative and interactive approach to the traditionally stayed letter format. The result was a dynamic reel showing off what the organization accomplished in an extremely challenging year.

2019: What Off Year?

In 2019 we developed not only a bold irreverent annual report to match the attitude of the organization that year, but also a sub brand for the YAS! convention. The report expanded the organization’s core branding elements with the introduction of new bold colors, three dimensional elements and engaging information design to clearly show the impact of a great year of great work.

2018: Get That Power

Our first year working with the Alliance for Youth action was focused on the strength of the brand and showing off the accomplishments of the organization. A data driven report show cased milestones and the featured an intertwined network of partner organizations with a consistent voice.
